Marianne Williamson..

"When my daughter was just a little girl, Greville would sing Beatles songs to her for hours on end.

The delight he brought to my child has stayed with me.

Anyone who has a way with children has a way with the human heart."

The great thing about Yoga is..

YOU have to be the one who does it! It's no use watching someone else.

You have DO something.

Even if it's sitting still! We learn by doing. We grow into ourselves by direct experience, and then by thinking about that experience. How we feel.

We always have a better time of it if we are cheerful.

We learn more. We experience more fun. We are lighter. Kids already know this; it's one of their distinguishing characteristics!

My teaching is based on education and experience, but most of all; it's based on relating to the kids. It's based on my own experience of life, which is a very happy one indeed. And it works! I've witnessed it work in Japan, in the U.S and in Greece!

I call it GroovyKids Yoga.

It is a fun, playful and educating blend of poses, movement, dancing, music, art and stories. In the 3-6-age range, we play games and jump around a lot. We laugh and make animal shapes. We sing Beatles songs together and then get totally still.

In the 7-11 ages, we practice more poses, and work on things that challenge us, like balance, strength and quiet.

My philosophy is simple.

A child is born to play, and that's its place in the world. Through that play, the child finds it's way forward and blooms, much like a flower. It's nothing we can force, but with care, it occurs naturally!

We create a safe place for the child to let their minds go free, and then, yoga happens.

We live in a world that almost forces us to compete. So, my classes are free of competition or judgment. Everyone is welcome, everyone is assured a place, and thus, we teach ourselves to live and honor each other's presence.

Commonly asked questions

Q. Do I have to stay with my kid?
A. Generally, the younger the child, the less likely they want to be alone, but by the age of 4 or so every child is usually fine. The easiest way to know is to stay the first time, because you probably won't have to ever stay again!

Q. Is there philosophy?
A. Yes, but it usually comes out of the kids' mouths.
